Pleased to welcome pianist, composer, improviser and singer, Maya Dunietz to OTO for two improvised duo performances alongside Tom White and Yoni Silver.
Maya Dunietz (1981) is a pianist, composer, creator of sculptures, installations and performances, combining singing, instrumentation and recording techniques with digital technologies and a varied array of materials. She merges different art fields into a single malleable mass. Her works are influenced by their spatial context; Dunietz has performed as soloist, composer and ensemble member with Meitar Ensemble, Saar Berger (Ensemble Modern), Bat Kol Choir, Hyperion Ensemble, Solistensemble Kaleidoskop, and others. Her works have been shown in institutions such as Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo, Bemis Center of Contemporary Art, Fondation Cartier, Arnolfini Gallery, Reykjavik Arts Festival and many more.
Tom White is an artist focusing predominantly on sound-based practices such as live performance, installation, recordings, composition for dance and film. He is interested in the physicality and phenomena of sound; how it can be felt by the body and experienced in architectural space. Past projects include commissions and appearances for Radiophrenia, Glasgow (CCA); BRAUBLFF (KRAAK & De Player); Whitechapel Gallery, London & Colour out of Space Festival, Brighton. Recent collaborators include Surface Area Dance Theatre, Maya Dunietz, Ben Knight, Renato Grieco and Lia Mazzari. He has performed extensively across the UK and Europe, travelled to North America and Japan and had work published by labels such as Takuroku (Cafe OTO), Glistening Examples, Vitrine, Chocolate Monk, Calling Cards Publishing and South London Gallery. He won the British Composer Award in 2014 (Sonic Art) for Public Address, commissioned by South London Gallery.
In 2016 he founded Apologies in Advance; a
platform for artists presenting work in progress performances.

Alongside his bass clarinet and multi-instrumental solo projects, Yoni has collaboratesd with artists such as Steve Noble, John Edwards, Regan Bowering, Birgit Ulher, and many others. He plays keyboards with Charles Hayward’s band Abstract Concrete, winds and strings in Ashley’s Paul's project RAY (with Otto Willberg); he was a longstanding member of Iancu Dumitrescu and Ana Maria Avram's Hyperion Ensemble, and has written orchestral arrangements for artists such as Nico Teen.
